Joel Kimmel is an illustrator based in Northern Ontario (Sudbury to be exact). He is available for freelance illustration work as well as personal commissions.
He enjoys illustrating portraits, icons and narrative and conceptual pieces. He takes inspiration from vintage tinted photographs – their color schemes and textures. As a John Steinbeck fan he loves the imagery of the Great Depression, farming and farm equipment, and rural landscapes. He enjoys drawing buildings, and again, especially ones from the early 1900s, tenement buildings, water towers and fire escapes.

In addition to working as an illustrator, Joel also works alongside his wife, Chantal Bennett, for their letterpress stationery company Papillon Press.
Joel enjoys playing basketball and sketching, and of course, working on illustration assignments.
